Built on a solid 1989 316 LHD rust free non-sunroof Shell, that had full rotisserie treatment.
As you will see from the attached link (with extra images), this was an engine out, glass out, doors out, interior out body restomod.
The chassis was treated to soda blasting and then painted using the very best materials (Sikkens) with epoxy primer, top quality lacquer, etc etc. No expense spared. This project was done by the owner of a Bmw garage, who wanted to promote his restoration business through this car.
The M3 look was completed using the correct M3 doors, side sills, wing extensions, which are ALL METAL as per the original cars.
The car was then put back together using new rubbers, new bolts & fixings and so on.
The front & rear bumpers are good quality fiberglass, and the rear spoiler is a genuine EVO adjustable spoiler.
The paintwork is mint throughout, although the wheels have a couple of minor marks on them.
The vehicle was treated to fully rebuilt 6 cyl E36 2500cc engine & transmission (5 speed), a popular upgrade on E30s. In short the car pulls like a train!
It had a new rad, new wiring loom, new hoses, new competition clutch, new alternator, new starter motor, and pretty much everything has been replaced with either new or fully reconditioned items.
The vehicle was also fitted with an electrically power assisted steering wheel.
New sports exhaust was fitted (all the way from the manifold backwards), new Bilstein B6 suspension, new front suspension arms, power coated parts all over underneath the car (subframe etc), new bushes, new bearings, reconditioned steering rack, new fuel pump, new CV boots, reconditioned brake callipers (all 4), new discs & pads, new hydraulic Willwood handbrake.
As you can see, absolute thousands have been spent here, to convert this E30 coupe to an outstanding E30 M3 Evo (£100k) lookalike!
Great dash for the age with just a few little marks. The same applies to the door cards, roof lining, centre console and carpets.
The front seats are fully retimed non BMW recliners, and the rear seats are genuine Bmw items in good shape. The steering wheel is a £250 deep dish MOMO drifter item (very fast & furious style), and easy to replace if you re not thrilled by it.
The speedo / clocks have seen better days, and is one of very few things that could do with a refurb on this vehicle (or a MPH replacement ideally).
A stunning M3 restomod, that has been done correctly with no expense spared.
The seats are probably not everybody’s cup of tea (in terms of originality) , so it can be upgraded to a street / standard Bmw interior, or you can go down the route of roll cage & bucket seats.
The choice is yours!
Equally the suspension is probably too hard (for every day use), and the rear diff with 4.75 final drive makes the car go through gears very quickly, and is not ‘everyday friendly’ by any means unless you intend to race / track day the car. Otherwise, a 3.40 final drive diff would probably suit the car better for every day driving (allow £300).
All the hard work has been done (bodywork / paint/ mechanical / electrics), and this great car is ready for a new owner (who may wish to make it more street friendly – or enjoy as is and have fun on the track).
The vehicle is fully serviced, it’s in superbb condition, & is offered here at a fraction of its build cost.
